Former Times Antiques Columnist Moonan Finds New Home

Wendy Head Shot.jpgLongtime New York Times antiques columnist Wendy Moonan has found a new place to sound off on objects and design. Starting this week, she’ll be covering fine art and decorative art for David Patrick Columbia‘s New York Social Diary.

Moonan’s column appeared every Friday in the Times for 14 years until a change in the editorial leadership in the Weekend Arts department motivated her to leave in August. Now she’ll be writing, at least once a week, on New York Social Diary, starting with yesterday’s column about New York’s Americana Week. “The honest difference is I actually love to find out about objects and their social history,” Moonan told FishbowlNY about her new gig, adding that now she is excited to add fine arts to her beat, something she never did at the Times

Moonan also continues to be a contributing editor to Architectural Digest and contribute to interior design site The Editor At Large.

“I have so many people come up to me and say, ‘I’m not really interested in antiques but I learned so much when I read your column,’” she told us. Now we’ll have a new place to find her enlightening, enthusiastic writing about antique objects and art.
