Fournier Named Chief of AP’s Washington Bureau

fournier.gifThe AP has just announced that Ron Fournier has been named chief of the AP’s Washington bureau. Fournier, who has been serving as acting bureau chief since May, was a former White House correspondent, a national political writer, as well as, an online political editor for the Associated Press. He has won multiple awards over his career for his political reporting and succeeds Sandy Johnson in the position.

Fournier recently made headlines when an old email exchange between he and White House adviser Karl Rove came to light. In it Fournier, who was an AP reporter at the time, is quoted as telling Rove to “keep up the fight.” He later said he regretted the “breezy nature of the correspondence.”
