Fox Not Rooting For Subway Series

clemens_piazza_2000.jpg

The Major League Baseball playoffs begin next week, and while many of us New Yorkers may be rooting for a Subway Series between the Mets and Yankees, Fox executives aren’t exactly in a 7 train mood.

As yesterday’s Wall Street Journal notes, Fox, which is in the middle of a $4.3 billion, 13-year broadcasting deal with MLB, would like to see a Yankees-Dodgers World Series, as both teams represent top two TV markets.

The 2000 World Series got the lowest TV ratings up until that point. Why? The rest of the country hates New York teams.

That, and freedom.
