Freakonomics Blog Purchased By NYT

0808freakonomics.jpgThe newest blogger at the New York Times is Freakonomics author Stephen J. Dubner. The paper worked out a deal (terms undisclosed, of course) to have Dubner migrate his blog from Freakonomics.com to its new (corporate) home. Dubner and co-author Steven D. Levitt insisted the Times keep the blog as free content and not TimesSelect-ize it during negotiations… But, hey. Too late!.

Notes:

1. This is the Timesfirst purchase of a previously existing blog. Sign of the future?
2. Look at the Times home page. See anything different? The paper is now featuring user comments below the main pic. So they are serious about this new media thing, after all. Awesome.
