George Polk Award Winners Named

0219bailey.JPGThe winners of this year’s George Polk Awards for Journalism were announced earlier this morning. Naturally, congratulatory pieces were published by media outlets like the Wall Street Journal, ABC News and Talking Points Memo.

But the most bittersweet award was won by Chauncey Bailey, the dedicated Oakland Post editor who was gunned down in the line of duty while uncovering the Your Black Muslim Bakery scandal. Meanwhile, the Oakland Post‘s website has been down for more than a week.
