Fashion Blog Duo ‘Go Fiction’ Themselves

Rather than publish another Go Fug Yourself offshoot, the tandem of Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan have done something much more ambitious. They’ve made a lateral foray into the world of young adult fiction with Spoiled, a 368-page Hollywood-set novel published by Hachette/Poppy.

And here’s the kicker. The premise of the book, about a 16-year-old celebrity love child suddenly forced to live with her famous dad and same-age half-sister, is eerily prescient of the whole Arnold Schwarzenegger scandal. Overall, LA Times reviewer Susan Carpenter gives Spoiled the thumbs up:

Cocks and Morgan write like the seasoned LA insiders they are, with a fast-paced, gossipy style that pushes Hollywood tropes over the top into parody. The latest Hollywood diet fad is horse tranquilizers from Mexico. The gossip mag, Hey!, speculates whether Bieber Fever is an actual medical affliction.

The authors have also got an authentic handle on LA showbiz and baptismal christening conventions. Action star dad is Brick Berlin, alongside soundalike daughter Brooke; and as Carpenter points out, there are other characters named Brie and Arugula.
