HBO to Provide the Cake

crosleyx.jpgVariety is reporting that HBO has optioned the rights to Sloane Crosley‘s best-selling collection of essays “I Was Told There’d Be Cake” (a great fit, in our opinion). The series will be produced by former HBO Entertainment “prexy” Carolyn Strauss.

When we asked Crosley, who is currently a publicist for Vintage Books, if she would be involved in the project she told us,

I will be involved, but I don’t feel compelled to speak for HBO beyond that. In a pleasantly meta twist, there are people at both HBO and CAA who hold my corresponding day job — and who can better answer any press queries.
And so the meta world turns!
