Hey, Nikki Finke, What’s Up With That ‘Premium’ Button?

Someone asked us today if Nikki Finke‘s Deadline Hollywood is going behind a paywall. Apparently there is a button suspiciously labeled premium. Roll over it says “Coming soon.” So? Subscribers? Paywall? What’s the deal?

“Absolutely not. NO PAYWALL,” Nikki tells FBLA. “Ninety-nine percent of our reporting will always be free. We are receiving so much advertising that we’ve been sold out again and again at times! We’ve had the premium button since when we debuted the new site September 2009! We might introduce some extra premium content for a small fee. But that’s a long way off yet,” says the founder and editor-in-chief.

So the “soon” is relative then.
