We’re beginning to feel like a community bulletin board, but we saw this one on LA Observed, and resisted our urge to ignore it:
The Los Angeles Newspaper Group has an opening for an executive sports editor to oversee coverage for the group’s nine papers — which include the L.A. Daily News.
Full listing here:
The Los Angeles Newspaper Group (circulation 560,000) seeks an executive sports editor to oversee and coordinate coverage for our nine newspapers and online products in the greater Los Angeles area, including the Daily News of Los Angeles, Long Beach Press Telegram, Torrance Daily Breeze, Pasadena Star News, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Whittier Daily News, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, San Bernardino Sun and Redlands Daily Facts.
This is a job for an experienced sports editor who knows how to manage a large staff and operate in a competitive market with multiple pro, college and prep teams. The ideal candidate must also have extensive experience with budgets, including freelance and travel.
Please e-mail a cover letter detailing how you would take our print and online products to the next level while still keeping each paper’s distinct local flavor. In addition, send a resume and any other relevant material to Melissa Lalum, Daily News managing editor, firstname.lastname@example.org.
