Internet Accuses LAPD of Covering Up Suspect’s Man Boobs

Winston Churchill once said “A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.” And that was before the Internet.

Meet the slightly portly Eduardo Ibarra Perez who is suspected of shooting his wife in the head back in 1994. LAPD has his mugshot up on their website as he is still “at large.” They of course blurred out his no longer relevant booking info that just so happened to be in front of his presumed man boobs.

Cue Internet snickering. At Fark. At Huffpo and then at Daily Mail.

Then the LAT’s Andrew Blankstein actually called the LAPD and they explained why it appears Perez’s boobs are censored. The department said it was not due to morality.

“This man’s picture has been on our website for more than a decade,” Mary Grady said. “Perhaps all of this attention will help us capture the suspect and close the case.”

The real mystery here is why dude has no shirt on. Apparently no one at the LAPD keeps those deets available nearly 15 years later. Of course, to us this is what all the domestic violence suspects on Cops answer the door wearing. We see nothing strange here.
