Jon Friedman ‘Ashamed’ He Went To Time 100 Dinner

Friedman has no chance of making the Time 100 list next year

Marketwatch’s Jon Friedman says he’s ashamed he went to Time 100 gala event last week. Why? Well, we’re not entirely sure. Was it because he enjoyed “a very nice white wine at the cocktail hour” and “devoured a generous portion of lamb at dinner”? Could it be that he complimented editor Richard Stengel for hosting the party? Maybe. But what Friedman finds “shameful” is that a magazine still throws a splashy party after cutting its staff by 300 in January.

But, as Friedman points out, the party is really for the advertisers — and potential 100 profiles — not the staff.

If Friedman’s seat is, in fact, up for grabs, we’ll take it — and the generous portion of lamb — next year.

We’re never too ashamed to party.
