Just Another Thursday: More Media Job Cuts

mglogo.gifMedia General, which publishes Richmond Times-Dispatch, The Tampa Tribune and Winston-Salem Journal among other media properties, saw its revenue drop 10.9 percent in April, according to the Associated Press. As a result, the company will cut 750 jobs, reducing its workforce from 6,900 to 6,150. “Staff reductions are spread across the company’s publishing, broadcast and corporate operations,” the International Hearld Tribune reports.

The (very thin) silver lining: Media General’s interactive sales climbed 15.5 percent to $3.8 million. This number, however, represents less than five percent of the company’s total revenue ($78.7).
