KCET Honored by American Public Television

Public television station KCET was honored earlier this month by American Public Television (APT) with the 2011 Programming Excellence Award for its BBC World News broadcast.

According to APT, the award “acknowledges programs that demonstrate outstanding production values through scope of content, execution, and degree of creativity. Programs and series that receive the award also must provide extraordinary content, above-average ratings and carriage, and demonstrate general production excellence.”

“Receiving this award means a great deal to us,” Bohdan Zachary, KCET’s vice president, Broadcasting & Program Development, said in a statement. “As a public television station we are very honored to be recognized by such a beacon of quality in public media like APT for BBC World News which is renowned for its journalistic integrity the world over.”
