Keep Smiling, Keep Shining: Facebook Maintains No One Has More than 5000 Friends

dionnegold.pngAccording to the Washington Post, despite recent reports to the contrary, Facebook has no plans to lift its 5000 friend limit.

Although Facebook doesn’t want to dictate rules of friending behavior to its users, the company is explicit in stating that the purpose of maintaining a list is not to see whose friend belt has the most notches.
Phew! Thank God we have Facebook to control all those crazy friending urges. Certainly no one can expect us to be left to our own devices on that front. MySpace, on the other hand, has no such qualms over the “nature of friendship.” Apparently, over there, the term “friend” “goes beyond ‘people I know in the world.’”
