Keep Your Enemies Closer

For years, Los Angeles Times reporter Jean O. Pasco has left Orange County officials with black eyes and bloody noses, exposing county supervisors’ misdeeds and corruption. So, naturally, she’d want to go work for them.

Pasco accepted a position to dither about in the county’s archives, leaving Orange County unchecked by any worthwhile reporter … except … hmm…

Orange County Register’s relatively new county reporter Norberto Santana posts a gushing goodbye to Pasco on his blog, never once mentioning how, um, icky it is for such a hard-hitting newspaperwoman to switch teams mid-game. If that’s what he really thinks, then shame on him. But if he’s just playing nice because he hopes someone at the Times takes notice, then I hope it works.
