Get ready for the most dysfunctional season in American Idol history.
Country star Keith Urban and rapper/pseudo-Republican Nicki Minaj have signed on as the final judges for the Fox singing competition. They will be paired with R&B legend Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson to form quite the odd foursome.
Even though Urban’s compensation wasn’t revealed, Minaj reportedly signed a one-year contract for $12 million and further extending her 15 minutes of fame.
“I am thrilled about this year’s judges panel,” Mike Darnell, Fox president of Alternative Entertainment said in a statement. “With an unparalleled star like Mariah, fan-favorite Randy, chart-toppers like Nicki and Keith and our incomparable host Ryan, we’ve put together one of the most exciting judging panels around.”
I could care less about the singing now. I just want to see how these four function together as Ryan Seacrest does his best to keep the live shows moving along and on time.
