A Tale of Two Christmas Music Radio Stations

What’s good for KOST-FM turned out to be not-so-good for KTWV-FM.

Per a report by Steve Carney in the LA Times, the former killed it as usual in local Arbitron ratings for the period of mid-November through early-December 2011, vaulting past KFI 640 AM to claim the number one ranking. But things did not work out so well for KTWV-FM, a.k.a. 94.7 The Wave, which made the Xmas format switch for the first time this year, two days before KOST 103.5:

The onetime smooth-jazz station actually lost ground in the December ratings book, for the second month in a row. It fell from eighth place in October to 11th in November, then to 14th in December, slipping from a 3.4% share to 3.1% and now 2.6%.

Ho, ho, bummer. As of Monday, both stations are now back to their regular programming formats.
