This week, KRLA 870 AM operates under the slogan “Intelligent. Conservative. Talk Radio.” and offers Glenn Beck weekday mornings from 6am to 9am. But that will change next week when Las Vegas radio personality Heidi Harris takes over his slot while the station as a whole gets rechristened as “The Answer.”
Owner Salem Communications, which did a similar re-branding trick recently with WNYM 970 AM in New York City, is folding both KRLA and Inland Empire sister station KTIE 590 AM under this new “Answer” umbrella. For Harris, it’s a move to a major market after a rather unusual start thirteen years ago in Sin City. From the press release:
Harris was first heard on the air on KDWN in Las Vegas in 1998 during the Monica Lewinsky scandal, when she volunteered to go on the station for free. Her unique take on that issue and others caught the attention of crosstown competitor KXNT, where she became co-host of the morning show in 1999.
Salem owns just under 100 radio stations across the country. The company also programs Christian-themed SiriuxXM channel 131 and operates a group of websites that includes christianity.com, jesus.org and Godtube.com. Harris will do her morning thing alongside a roster of syndicated personalities that includes Dennis Prager, Michael Medved, Dennis Miller and Hugh Hewitt.
