Wednesday’s Forecast: Final Surgery for KTLA’s Mark Kriski

This past Sunday, KTLA Morning News weatherman Mark Kriski celebrated his two-year anniversary with girlfriend and station colleague Jennifer Gould. Tomorrow, he is looking forward to another momentous event: the final bit of surgery related to his tenacious recovery from viral pneumonia.

“After everything that’s been done, the doctors just need to go back in and take a look, remove any dead tissue, and so on,” Kriski tells FishbowlLA this morning via telephone. “They’re estimating that I will be in the hospital for two days, and then back home for another ten days to two weeks of recovery.”

Because FishbowlLA has been directly involved in helping recommend movies for Kriski and Gould to watch during his various stretches of convalescing, we had to ask if anything has stood out. “I have definitely been tending towards comedy and action,” Kriski answers. “And at one point, we went through a Guy Ritchie phase, watching everything he directed.”

Kriski was on air Monday, but took today off to prepare for surgery by drinking fluids. It’s been a long, hard road, but Kriski sounded in great spirits and promises to share post-op updates via Twitter. For those who would like to send him good thoughts, please click here.

Update – 04/22/11: Kriski returned home at the end of last week, and is expected to return to the KTLA airwaves on Tuesday, April 26th.
