Ten years ago, Kyle Sackowski (pictured) graduated from the Indiana University with a degree in journalism, bolstered by an emphasis on graphic arts, photography and the Japanese language. Today, he begins his newest professional chapter as associate art director at The Hollywood Reporter after previous stints at the Orange County Register, the Press-Enterprise and South Bend Tribune.
Sackowski joins two other associate art directors on staff, Katherine Bryja and Ada Guerin, and will take orders from shared boss Shanti Marlar. The design portfolio slide show at his personal website begins with work he did for another magazine’s “The Greying of Oscar” feature. Good practice, no doubt, for his new gig.
Among Sackowski’s fellow Indiana University alums working in Hollywood are Oscar winner Kevin Kline, Golden Globe decorated producer Ryan Murphy and director David Anspaugh. From the Inland Empire to Orange County to now LA proper, Sackowski has been creeping ever so closer.
