LA Churches Outraged at Hours Long Inconvenience One Day a Year

LAMARATHON-2006-START.jpg
Of all the cities with thriving marathons – Los Angeles is the one getting bullied by church groups to move the date. Yes, one Sunday a year everyone in LA had to put off their plans until noon. In a time when obesity and inertia are epidemics and tax revenues are at an all time low – the church groups in Los Angeles want to take on a couple hour delay in worship services.

So embarrassing.

They’ve set up a site, Save Our Sabbaths:

Tell the Los Angeles City Council and Councilman Tom LaBonge that you DO NOT want the Los Angeles Marathon to occur on a Sunday. We don’t want the LA Marathon to impact our day of worship with road closures and traffic congestion.

The marathon, which for 20 years was in February, was moved to Memorial Day this year for church groups. If the city council is re-visiting it this, the marathon this year wasn’t as successful as they hoped.
