LAT Scribes Won’t Describe Melrose Muggers

burglar2.gifThe article reporting the 8th robbery in the Melrose area gives no description of the suspects. Day-light robberies. No description of the perps (yes we watch too much TV cop shows).

Victoria Kim and Andrew Blankstein‘s article goes:

An eighth robbery within two weeks has taken place in the popular shopping area along Melrose Avenue, authorities said today.

Around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, three young men jumped out of a car and snatched a purse from one of two women walking together in the 500 block of Genesee Avenue near Fairfax High School, said Officer Ana Aguirre of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The suspects got back into the car, a silver Chevrolet Malibu, and fled the scene, Aguirre said.

So in lieu of an actual idea of what these young guys sporting a Malibu ride – we immediately go to our preconceived notion of what robbers look like. And for us the dollar sign on their bag is a dead giveaway.
