Layoffs at Woman’s Day?

womansday04.02.09.jpgEarlier today, we received an anonymous tip that Woman’s Day laid off six staffers — including the style director and food managing editor — last night:

Woman’s Day cut 6 people from the staff last night, including two pregnant women. The style director, editorial assistant in the style department, the food managing editor, a production person and two designers were all laid off. Leaving the staff with about 20 people to produce a 17-times-per-year publication (and possibly the SIPs who just laid off most of their staff). Woman’s Day‘s art department has been left with one designer and the creative director to design the whole magazine.

We spoke with Anne Janas, senior vice president, corporate communications for Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S., but she declined to comment, citing a company policy that prevented her from discussing personnel moves.
