How To Create a Magazine iPad App
In the final installment of this week’s Media Beat interview, we asked Doug Carlson of Zinio and John Lema of ScrollMotion for tips for magazine publishers looking to create digital products and iPad apps.
“I think the first thing that challenges publishers is really their workflow process,” said Carlson. “We’d look first and say can we create something that’s going to be scalable, affordable and usable really across platforms.”
“You have to remember who your customer is,” Lema added. “You have to think about all the features that you can put in it, and then think about what your customer’s gonna use. There’s not a one-size-fits-all solution just like there’s not a one-size-fits-all solution to magazines today.”
Still don’t think this stuff is important? Get on the digital train now or get left behind. “The tablet aisle of Best Buy is going to be littered with devices from every major manufacturer over the next couple of years,” predicted Lema.
