Dennis Publishing's got a new name. The Maxim/Stuff/Blender/The Week publisher is currently in the midst of being purchased by the Quadrangle Group, who will rename the firm "Alpha Media Group." This beat out suggestion Maxim Media, according to WWD, with the new name (and ownership) to take effect in late August. Takeaway lessons from this:

1. Dennis' new owners want to lessen the popular impression of Maxim as their lead property.

2. Yet another magazine group is going to have a generic name. Awesome.
