Media Minutiae, Leave Your Keys In The Bowl Edition

God, this reminds me of last Thursday.jpg

  • This week’s New York Magazine is a seething, roiling den of iniquity and sins of the flesh. And they said print was dead. Open marriages, TMI on teens, and dish from the ladies who lust, plus all sorts of undulating curvations. Growl. [NYMag]

  • Google’s world domination plan is right on track, thank you very much: It’s a go – Google is all set to blanket its Silicon Valley home of Mountain View in free WiFi mesh. The city council votes to approve (or not) tomorrow; San Fran is still deciding whether they’re up for the Google love (which is clearly not to be confused with O’Reilly love). If you forget why this will lead to world domination, go here. Or, you know, here and here and here. [Yahoo - oh, the irony.]
  • GoogleMagazines: It was only a matter of time As long as Google’s gunning to own the world and help drive newsprint into oblivion, it might as well seize and conquer the magazine world, too. We won’t know for sure until it unveils its dastardly plan, of course, but here’s a hint: Google just registered the domain name GoogleMagazines.com (and covered its bases with net, and org, and info). They’re mad, I tell you, mad!! [SearchEngineWatch]
  • Blog-mockery is a dish best served spicy: Blogger Julia Langbein got a shout-out from USA Today this weekend for her Frank Bruni-shadowing blog, The Bruni Digest, in which she chews over Bruni’s latest dispatch from the top kitchens of the city and spits them back out in her own inimitable fashion. Brunilicious! [USA Today]
  • With great power comes great responsibility. We couldn’t remember who said this, but apparently it was Spider-Man. Still, it’s germane to David Carr‘s ruminations on blogging and responsible journalism. [NYT]
