Media Miscellany: Ides of July Edition
She works hard for the money, so Jann better treat her right: Not to mention her staff. That was the hard line taken by Janice Min, and she proved herself an able negotiatrix with a – finally – cemented contract for $1.2 million per year, plus, presumably, chow for her hardworking staff (we say “presumably” because the terms aren’t public). Can I just say, it’s harder than you’d think to come up with a solid “Min” pun. Ooh! “I Min The Mood For $2.4 Million, Simply Because You Read Me…” How’s that? [NYP]
Reunited, and it feels so good: After all the dramarama at Budget Living (Founding editor leaving! Staffers revolting! New editor also leaving!) it must be nice for Sarah Gray Miller and Alex Bhattacharji to work together again. Miller joins Entertainment Weekly spinoff movie mag Look as EIC for their second issue (first one ran in April beta-style) and Bhattacharji joins her. This is also from the very-newsy-today [NYP]
Okay, Keith Kelly, you’ve got it going on today. Props to you, fresh content for me: Bruce Wasserstein’s son Ben is joining New York magazine as an associate editor, which his father coincidentally owns. Wasserstein the Younger departs from an associate editorship at Vitals, helmed by Joe Zee, who, yes, is – wait for it – Canadian. Ha, Kelly, scooped ya there! [NYP, times three for thee (minus Zee)]
‘Cause if you feed me, Seymour, I can grow up big and strong: The Washington Post has become the first big-time news site to put ads in its RSS feeds. We’re not equating the hunger for ad dollars with the gaping maw of a man-eating jive-talking soul-singing plant, we’re just giving you what you want. [AdAge]
Jim Cramer wants to buff up. He said so last night on Tucker. He is a very exciteable man. Meanwhile, Charlie Gasparino evinced an impressive knowledge of Weider fitness magazines. Do we smell a subscription? Go get ‘em, tiger!
