Cablevision Systems Corporation's Madison Square Garden division, which owns the Knicks, and Chairman James Dolan must pay $11.6 million in punitive damages after losing a sexual harassment suit filed by Anucha Browne Sanders.

The four woman and three man jury in U.S district court found that Isaiah Thomas sexually harassed the former team official, but does not have to pay punitive damages. From Bloomberg:

''The jury said today that Thomas and MSG intentionally discriminated against Browne Sanders, who originally sought $9.6 million. Under the verdict, only MSG is subject to punitive damages on the bias allegation.

''On the retaliation claim, Jurors said MSG and Dolan, who owns the Knicks, fired Browne Sanders for complaining about the harassment. The jury decided Thomas didn't take part in her termination. Dolan, 52, and MSG are liable for punitive damages on that claim. MSG said it would appeal.''
