(we already did a Media Miscellany, but we assure you that this is VERY DIFFERENT)
If a blog falls in a forest, does Romenesko hear? Today our cousin at FishbowlDC launches "Things You Might Have Missed If You Only Read Romenesko" which notes some interesting media tidbits that missed his round-up this week. We just want you to love us, Romenesko, is that so wrong?
But I hardly know 'er: The New York Times is launching a poker column this Saturday in the Sports section, written by World Series of Poker champ James McManus. Are his toes as cute as the Stevens', I wonder.
You brought 'er: MSNBC talking head Tucker Carlson's ratings are plummeting. TVNewser wonders if it just needs time to find its audience or if the slide is indicative of a lack of interest, given the strong initial audience. I think Tucker should get rid of that insufferable, unfunny blowhard Jay Severin and thank his lucky stars for Rachel Maddow, who is smart and funny and genuine and the voice of reason on that show. Also, Max Kellerman's kind of cute. Today FishbowlNY is in junior high.
Newspapers are sad and lonely and unloved: It's still true, and BusinessWeek's Jon Fine confirms it.
Taxidermists of the world, unite! Bring your favorite stuffed dead animal to Pete's Candy Store tonight for the "Carnivorous Nights" book party and taxidermy contest. This is not a joke, this is how some people meet and fall in love. Pete's Candy Store is at 709 Lorimer Street in Brooklyn. Event from 6:00 - 8:30.
I have received more reader mail on Dan Abrams' hair than about anything else this week. No one writes me much so really that's not a very high bar, but still.
