Media Minutiae, I Am In No Danger Of Falling In Love With Jon Klein Edition
Shiny, pretty, Canadian crack! Forget digital cameras, NYT techmeister David Pogue is gonna shoot straight to the top of MEL with this one: an article on the latest Blackberry model (lighter! smaller! prettier!) courtesy of Canadian corp Research in Motion, the makers of all things Berry. How fun and exciting, shiny new toys! Whee! The article is called "Corporate tool, yes, but bright and handy" which I assumed was about the dating scene in New York. [NYT]
You can call me Al... and tell me all about your personal life while you're at it. Alex Kuczynski happens to think those elements add to her shopping experience, as well as making her feel like a blushing maiden of under 35. She highly recommends Forth & Towne, though cautions the reader that "the only real problem with the name is that the initials spell F-A-T." Which women of EVERY age just love! I think I'll stick with Big & Tall. PS. Funny side note here for you to make fun of: every time my computer has an improper shutdown, which is often, when it reboots part of the code on screen says "FAT 32." I am 32, and apparently my computer hates me. [NYT]
Shafer asks, Kristof delivers: Slate's Jack Shafer wanted Nicholas Kristof to correct and clarify his May 6, 2003 column which stated that Joseph Wilson and his envoy had debunked a specific document as a forgery when in fact no such debunkery had occurred. Kristof listened to Shafer and subsequently posted a clarification on his web page. Shafer is happy, although he'd be happier to see it in print. He compensates with a fun headline though: "Kristof's Korrection." I thought about adding "Krazy" but then remembered that I could spell. [Slate]
Why have bloggers not flocked to the White House press briefings? Perhaps sloppy seconds ain't their style. [E&P]
There are only so many hours in a 24-hour day: "Jonathan Klein, the president of CNN/US, said yesterday that he and Mr. Brown agreed that Mr. Brown would leave the cable news network because its new lineup left "no options" for a program that would include Mr. Brown. "It is, unfortunately, a zero-sum game," Mr. Klein said." See title, above; screed, below. [NYT]
"Yes. Girth." Fishbowl once again gives free rein to her fickle, fickle heart, falling momentarily (and very platonically) in love with Rebecca Traister based on her Salon-blog "Broadsheet" entry regardinging the gentleman who cited his unusual endowment from the Gods as a defense in a sexual assault case. How can you not appreciate a woman who will not shrink from thre word "repli-cock"? Hmmm, why did I just use the word "shrink" in that context? Something to ponder, no doubt, but in the meantime, joy, as we discover that the repli-cock is CANADIAN! Oh, Canada, indeed. [Salon Broadsheet]
