Media Miscellany: 06.03.2005So many minutes, so many more producers, editors, cameramen and correspondents: Despite massive layoffs, there are still too many people swelling the ranks of the 60 Minutes staff now that CBS has axed 60 Minutes II. And where exactly will Dan Rather fit in? And will he get to tell everyone that he's Dan Rather? It doesn't matter, my parents will still watch it every Sunday. [NYT] Keith Kelly is hep to the downtown art scene: The NY Post's Keith Kelly, who loves scoops just as much as Lloyd Grove, reports on Time Magazine's new Soho billboard, a work-in-progress by renegade grafitti artist Cope. Kelly quotes from self-promotion expert Bucky Turco, who manages to score credit on Adrants for the tip before turning around and bringing it to Kelly, who quotes the now-boldfaced Turco mistily waxing on the co-opting of grafitti by the establishment, man. We just like saying "Bucky Turco" and we fully expect to see him around in the future. [NYP] Bonnie Fuller would never try to give a false impression! The iron-fisted editrix of Star Magazine, Bonnie Fuller, turns her nose up at spending an arm and a leg on a real photo when an 'illustration' is even better. Besides, a picture says a thousand words but when your reporting's as strong as the Star's, a thousand words says it much, much better (especially with an 'illustration' to help it along!). The upshot? Star - it's not like Us![MediaLife via Jossip] Email This Post |
