Media Miscellany - Non-PBS Edition: 06.24.2005Budget, Bleeding: Budget Living acting editor Alex Bhattacharji has quit the staff-challenged magazine, and will be leaving in mid-July. We think it's safe to assume that Budget Living isn't a very fun place to work. [NYP] Slate opines on Fox Business Channel, teaches us about deep blue oceans and Val Kilmer movies: In this age of blackberry-and-internet reliance, when business magazines are tanking and CNBC is the business channel, can Fox pull off their planned business channel? Daniel Gross looks at the climate for same, remembering that he's dealing with Roger Ailes, and tosses in a few helpful facts for our edification. Slate learns us good. [Slate] Ed Klein, the untouchable: Yikes! Hillary-besmircher Ed Klein is feeling the backlash on his just-published book something fierce, garnering harsh reviews and criticism from within the Conservative ranks. Props to Bill O'Reilly (yes, you read that right) for refusing to have Klein on the show because of the "personal attacks" contained therein. Peggy Noonan is miffed that the book's lurid claims (Hillary's Sapphic predilections; Chelsea's violent conception) inure Hillary against future revelations; she wants a properly-researched, sourced and credible Hillary book, and this ain't it. Upshot: Bad, bad career move, Ed. [NYT] Email This Post |
