We just heard from Jennifer Blessman at Forbes, who attended college with David Gregory at American University (Class of '92, woo-hoo!), lived on his floor in the dorm, and shared common frosh classes with his long, tall self. She kindly offers some intel on Gregory's height; not an actual figure -- that's still a mystery -- but some lore, if you will:

My friends and I used to -- and still do - call him 'Big Tall Dave':

"Ooh! Big Tall Dave is reporting from the White House!"
"Ooh! Big Tall Dave is hosting the Today Show this morning!"

Although Blessman hasn't seen Gregory since graduation (come now, David, you guys did that year abroad program in Paris together too -- it would kill you to pick up a phone?), she and her buddies came up with the moniker "practically day one of freshman year" and she hopes it sticks: "I know the Prez calls him Stretch*, but I secretly hope "Big Tall Dave" will start sweeping the nation."

We do, too. But we also hope to find out how tall he actually is. Like, in feet and inches. Or meters and centimeters for you metric types out there. Or ampoules. Yeah, that's easy to measure. We dare Scott McLellan to try.
