Former Real Simple Art Director Jumps to Brooklyn Boutique Life
Magazine world struggling? No problem, just start a boutique. In Brooklyn, no less. Carolyn Veith, former Real Simple art director and her lit prof. hubby Kai Krienke did just that when they opened Jan and Äna, the Greenpoint store named, adorably, for the couple's two children. Over the phone Veith told us she still has advertising clients, focusing on kid campaigns, but she hopes to eventually transition to running the store full-time. "I'd been in a corporate environment for such a long time, I wanted to move to independent work," she said. "It was more of a lifestyle decision [than the state of the industry]." Sounds like a good life plan to us. After the jump, pics of a store curated by someone with much better eye than you (or at least us).
