Mediaweek Editor Michael Burgi Departs

michael_burgi06102010.jpgMichael Burgi, editor in chief of Mediaweek, is leaving the e5 Media-owned magazine, The Wrap reports.

After 17 years with the media industry magazine, Burgi is headed off for the vice presidency of communications as Canoe Ventures, a joint venture among U.S. cable operators.

Mediaweek executive editor Jim Cooper is expected to replace Burgi at the magazine’s top editorial spot, according to The Wrap. Burgi also told The Wrap that he is leaving of his own volition.

Whether it be arrivals or departures, change is afoot at e5. Having bought eight Nielsen publications in December, the company has been on something of a turnaround kick, most notably at The Hollywood Reporter, where it recently hired former Us Weekly editor Janice Min as editorial director and former OK! publisher Lori Burgess (as publisher, duh).
