Morning Media Menu With Jim Long (@NewMediaJim)

mornmm.gifToday on the Menu we welcome Jim Long, also known to his 25,000 Twitter followers as @NewMediaJim. Long is an Emmy award-winning photojournalist, editor, and producer with fifteen years of network television experience, who now works as an NBC News cameraman in the Washington bureau. He’s also part of tomorrow’s TVNewser Summit where will talk about the “New Tools of the Trade.” Also! He was apparently nervous about doing our show, but he did great!

long_3-8.jpgLong, who tells us his road to Twitter began when he purchased a car which came equipped with an iPod plug, says “I discovered that there were very, very smart, well-connected people from a just a completely disparate range of backgrounds and professions, and they started to respond to me, and to talk to me, and we started to share ideas and share links…that’s what the social web is about, it’s about sharing knowledge.”

We’re also joined briefly by Steve Garfield who calls in to chat. You can listen to the podcast at BlogTalkRadio.com/mediabistro and call in yourself(!) at 646-929-0321.
