MTV Launches Musician Profile Pages

MTV has launched a new venture, called Artists.MTV, which it hopes will one day become the number one spot for finding everything you want to know about your favorite musicians.

It’s in beta right now, so there will be some changes, but the overall look is pretty good. Once you click on an artist’s profile page, you’ll be greeted with videos, music, news and even social media updates. There is also a spot for users to purchase music.

On Frank Ocean’s page, the top is a mix of his official music and videos, like the one for “Novacane.” It’s clean and easy to navigate. Below are some Twitter updates from Ocean. One reads “Three much goin on,” so, well… Some things are out of MTV’s control.

As Billboard.biz reports, this could be a great opportunity for MTV. Myspace tried to recreate itself as a musician’s paradise, but failed miserably. The door is wide open for something to take its place. Artists.MTV just might be it.
