It’s definitely a good day at the office when one of TIME magazine’s “140 most influential brands on Twitter” partners with your company. Even if the name of that cutting-edge firm sounds like something straight out of the Austin Powers film franchise.
Nerdist Industries, parent co. of Nerdist.com and the brainchild of sometimes Chelsea Lately panelist Chris Hardwick, announced today that it has entered into an equity partnership with subscriber newsletter outfit GeekChicDaily. The influx of cash into Nerdist will go towards marketing, infrastructure, and new hires. Per this morning’s press release:
Nerdist.com’s comedy/pop culture podcast was recently named as one of the top 10 best comedy podcasts by Rolling Stone and sold as a television show to BBC America. Nerdist.com boasts a following of 1.4 million Twitter fans and has spawned The Nerdist Way, a book scheduled to be published November 1st by The Penguin Group. Nerdist Industries is also the production company behind the animated pilot Hard N Phirm’s Musical Time Hole at IFC
We love the quote too from GeekChicDaily stakeholder Peter Guber: “Chris’ authenticity with this audience is genuine and undeniable.” Nerd is the word.
