A federal appeals court has upheld contempt charges against the journalists who refused to reveal their sources about the Wen Ho Lee investigation, among them the LAT‘s Robert Drogin. (Although the court did reverse the charges against one journalist, Jeff Gerth from the NYT.) The twist is, these charges arise from a lawsuit Lee is pursuing stemming from his wrongful accusation– without knowing who leaked the ‘information’, it’s hard to build a case that the Privacy Act was violated.

Ah, Mama, don’t let your children grow up to be journalists.
