New Ownership Slashes 21 Jobs At Vibe

job_cuts_at_vibe.jpgAfter Vibe‘s sale to Eric Gertler and partner Ari Horowitz left editor-in-chief Mimi Valdez without a job, a secondary round of cuts have come down at the magazine.

Via Keith Kelly‘s Media Ink:

A secondary round of axings at Vibe yesterday added another 21 heads to the original bloodbath. The new layoffs added award-winning Design Director Florian Bachleda and Managing Editor Lori Yacavone to last week’s purge which included the editor-in-chief, Mimi Valdez, and the president, Kenard Gibbs. The ousted hierarchy from last week included Executive Editor Shani Saxon-Parrish, Deputy Editor Jamie Katz and Music Editor Eric Parker.

Note to Keith: We love ya, but today wouldn’t be the day to use “bloodbath” to describe staff changes, however tempting.
