New Shows at Telemundo’s WNJU/Channel 47

With the influx of radio layoffs, the opposite is occurring at Telemundo’s Channel 47/WNJU. The Daily News reports, the Spanish language station is preparing to launch a new public affairs show Enfoque Nueva York (Focus on New York) November 6 at 11 p.m.

The changes come at Channel 47 amid a new management team, and Comcast having recently acquired station owner NBC Universal.

Those changes include adding weekend newscasts (at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.) to the schedule, starting January 21 with anchor Ivan Taylor.

Weeknight WNJU anchor Jorge Ramos will host Enfoque Nueva York.

For Channel 47, 2012 will mark its 47th year on the air. Telemundo’s rival is New York’s other Spanish-language station Univision’s Channel 41/WXTV, which began broadcasting in 1968.
