ESPN might have difficulty wresting the Olympics from NBC's vice-like grasp, but the self-proclaimed Worldwide Leader will always have baseball (though it's no longer an Olympic sport).

Yesterday, ESPN announced a partnership with Major League Baseball that will "significantly increase ESPN's ability to put MLB content onto any number of platforms." Most importantly, the Bristol, CT media conglomerate will be allowed to stream live games and the Home Run Derby on ESPN360.com and ESPN Mobile TV.

"It was a good time for us to redo our deal so we can take the content to additional platforms," Marie Donoghue, senior vp business affairs and development, said. Great, because we've always wanted to watch the boring ass Home Run Derby on a tiny phone screen.
