Five Years Later: It's Still 'Holy F*cking Sh*t'
Unfortunately, I don't have a Bucky Turco-like 9/11 story. I didn't mountain bike or rollerblade to Ground Zero or wind up in a black Suburban with a soot-covered Diane Sawyer. I was struggling, unemployed, asleep on the couch with my dog in Connecticut, TV tuned to NBC — probably watching the Today Show before I dozed off. When I awoke, around, let's say, noon, Lower Manhattan was black. My only constant thought was later brilliantly executed by the Onion: "Holy Fucking Shit."
In some ways, that was my only thought.
