Newsday Hires Cartoonist Matt Davies

Newsday has hired Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist Matt Davies. Davies’ work has appeared in numerous publications, including The New York Times, Mad MagazineThe Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Newsweek and Time.

Davies — whose career began at the The Journal News in Westchester — won the Pulitzer for editorial cartoons in 2004 and was a finalist in 2011.

“Matt’s razor-sharp pen will skewer the powerful and provoke the complacent,” said Newsday’s editorial pages editor, Rita Ciolli, in a statement. “He’s a singular talent in the cartooning world and we’re delighted to welcome him as a colleague.”

Davies will join Newsday in September.
