If you have a spare $1.5 billion to throw around, Getty Images could be yours. The renowned image library, used by everyone from the New York Times to the federal government, is on the auction block. Getty has retained Goldman Sachs to mediate the potential sale.

So who wants to buy the company? Private equity firms. Some of the reported parties interested include Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Bain Capital.
