Nylon Gets a New Top

tn_06.jpgStephanie Trong, who most recently worked at Page Six Magazine, will join Nylon and Nylon Guys as executive editor. She replaces April Long, who decamped to be Elle‘s senior beauty and fitness editor.

Before P6, Trong worked at Jane where she began as an editorial assistant in 1999 and worked her way up to deputy editor.

Long served as senior editor and deputy editor of Nylon before taking the top slot.

APRIL LONG NAMED SENIOR BEAUTY AND FITNESS EDITOR AT ELLE
New York, N.Y. August 14, 2008 — April Long has been named senior beauty and fitness editor at ELLE. It was announced by Emily Dougherty, beauty/fitness director.

Long will be helping to edit and write the beauty and fitness section of the magazine with her unique wit and enthusiasm.
She was most recently executive editor at Nylon, where she served as deputy editor and senior editor. She also wrote Play: the Nylon Book of Music, which was published by Rizzoli/Universe in April 2008. Prior to joining Nylon, she was a head writer at Pop-Up Video for VH1.

Long is a graduate of Boston University with an MA in Art Theory and Criticism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
In 2007, ELLE ran 167 beauty editorial pages — over 9 percent of our magazine. In 2008, ELLE continues to dedicate more editorial to beauty and is trending upward of the same time period in 2007 with 11 percent of our editorial focused on beauty.
