Obesity Correspondent Update

mf50cent.jpgMen’s Fitness editor in chief (and FishbowlNY Obesity Correspondent) Neal Boulton sent us the following a couple of weeks ago regarding designer Michael Grossman:

Michael Grossman is the best editorial thinker on the planet. The best!

Getting hired by him years ago is precisely why I was able to transition from a designer, to an editorial design consulting, to the founder and teacher of “The Role of Design in Journalism” at The Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia U, to being an Editor in Chief of a magazine.

And to top it off, he’s one of the nicest guys I ever knew.

A real mentor.

In summary: Michael Grossman = the best! Roger Black, not so much.

To your left, you’ll notice the latest issue of MF, but it’s not the one you’ll see on the newsstand. The newsstand version has WWE wrestler John Cena on the cover—a nod to Spike TV, we’re told by non-Obesity Correspondent sources. But Spike just cancelled the WWE, so the alternate 50 Cent cover (which goes to some urban areas and subscribers), above left, is now the official cover. (50 Cent declined to be interviewed for the piece, so the issue contains a first-person essay bylined by O.C. Boulton instead.)
