Cop-Punching Reporter Gets Fired![]() Alycia Lane (pictured), the Philadelphia television anchor who allegedly punched out a cop in the Meatpacking District last month, was just fired from her job. KYW-TV, Philadelphia's CBS affiliate, announced today that they've decided to let her go. The station's official line, as per KYW-TV president Michael Colleran: "After assessing the overall impact of a series of incidents resulting from judgments she has made, we have concluded that it would be impossible for Alycia to continue to report the news as she, herself, has become the focus of so many news stories. We wish to make clear that we are not prejudging the outcome of the criminal case against Alycia that is pending in New York. We understand that Alycia expects to be fully vindicated in that proceeding. We hope that is the case and we wish her the best in all her future endeavors." Lane, the co-anchor on the station's nightly 6pm and 11pm Eyewitness News broadcasts, was previously involved in a sex scandal with ex-ESPNer Rich Eisen. She was on a three-week "vacation" from the station after getting fired. But it gets even better! To noone's surprise, Lane has hired a lawyer to sue the pants off of her old employer. For the record, Lane denies calling the police officer she allgedly slugged a "f***ing dyke." KYW-TV's official statement after the jump. CBS 3 (KYW-TV) announced today that Alycia Lane has been released from her contract effective immediately. CBS 3 President and General Manager Michael Colleran stated, "After assessing the overall impact of a series of incidents resulting from judgments she has made, we have concluded that it would be impossible for Alycia to continue to report the news as she, herself, has become the focus of so many news stories. We wish to make clear that we are not prejudging the outcome of the criminal case against Alycia that is pending in New York. We understand that Alycia expects to be fully vindicated in that proceeding. We hope that is the case and we wish her the best in all her future endeavors." Lane has been co-anchor of CBS 3's Eyewitness News at 6 and 11 p.m. since September, 2003. CBS 3 (KYW-TV) is part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation. Email This Post |
