Oprah Holds Court at The Crown Grill

CrownGrillLogoThere will be lots more media coverage of Oprah Winfrey‘s Monday night visit to upstate New York, beyond what’s there now. But few items will deliver as delightfully as the one by Albany Business Review reporter Pam Allen.

Under the headline “Oprah Winfrey, Two Skidmore Students and The Crown Grill in Saratoga,” Allen playfully lays out the not-trivial-because-it’s-Oprah details. Starting with these first two sentences:

A wedge salad with bacon and blue cheese.

That’s what Oprah Winfrey ate when she dined Monday at The Crown Grill in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Winfrey was joined in a private back room by a pair of Skidmore College students who previously attended her Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa. Among the other details shared by Allen is the measure taken by The Crown Grill owners to ensure their waiter could not go Instagram-crazy.

The Blue Cheese Wedge goes for eight dollars. We imagine the Crown proprietors are already taking steps to deal with a massive surge in that menu item’s popularity.
