A glitch is forgetting to include a decimal point and leaving the lunch waitress a $920 tip instead of $9.20. Logging into PayPal to find 92 quadrillion cruelly subtracted is more like a mega-glitch, a glitchasaurus, an OG (Original Glitch).
Freelance journalists currently checking their PayPal accounts for an expected payment will get a chuckle out of the hometown of 56-year-old five-comma goof recipient Christopher Reynolds. The Media, PA resident – who owns and operates PR firm Reynolds Ink with his wife Jennifer – told the paper he discovered the mistake last Friday:
“It was more funny than elating.” After receiving an email notification, Reynolds logged onto his PayPal account to find that the online-money transfer had been annulled, lowering his balance from $92,233,720,368,547,800 to $0.
Reynolds went ahead and posted some PDF-ed PayPal evidence to his Facebook page. Instantly, he started hearing from “friends” he hadn’t talked to in ages. Read the Daily News piece here.
